Beyond Tobermory there is an underwater shipwreck park where many sunken vessels may be viewed through glass-bottomed boats. Nearby Flowerpot Island has an enormous pot-shaped stone erosional remnant. From Tobermory, a ferry (for reservations, phone: 800 265-3183) connects to the next segment of the Niagaran Escarpment, Manitoulin Island. Along the northern base of the Bruce Peninsula, from Cape Commodore to Balmy Beach on Route 1, the rock is Upper Ordovician in age and contains many brachiopods, halysites, and large favosites coral colonies.
